On April 13, 1941 Bonnie was born in New Martinsville WV, the apple of her Daddy's eye. She grew up in Paden City WV and graduated from Paden City High School. She soon caught the eye of another man who would be her best friend and soul mate for the remainder of her life, Lory Brafford. Bonnie and Lory had three children, Lynn, Jeff and Andrea. On November 13, 2016, Bonnie went home to be with her Lord and to sing the heavenly choir.
Bonnie graduated from Ohio University and received a double Master's degree from Lynchburg College along with endorsements from UVA. She taught school in Ohio and in Virginia for 37 years. Retiring from Campbell County. She was also an Adjunct Professor at Lynchburg College. Bonnie was also teacher of the year for Piedmont Area Reading Council. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, reading, cooking, playing the organ at the Altavista Church of Christ and her Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren (who called her Bible). She touched the lives of many people through her teaching and her work beside her husband in the ministry and service to many churches and her Lord.
Bonnie is survived by her husband, Lory Brafford of the residence; three children, Lynn McCrickard (Robert) of Altavista VA, Jeff Brafford (Donna) of Lynch Station, VA, and Andrea Presley (Richard) of Murfreesboro, TN.; six grandchildren, Mehgan McCrickard (Mike Roberts), Dustin Brafford (Leslie), Lauren Terry (Brandon), Chad Brafford (Addison), Tyler Presley and Chelsea Presley; 7 Great-Grandchildren, Bre-Anna Shelton, Madison Shelton, Alex Shelton, Tosh Roberts, Kassidy Terry, Adalyn Brafford and Colton Roberts. She is also survived by her mother, Betty Schupbach of Paden City, WV and her brother Howard (Sonny) Schupbach (Joanne) of Paden City, WV. She is predeceased by her father Howard Lewis Schupbach, Sr. and one brother Terry Dale Schupbach.
The family would like to thank all of Bonnie's caregivers at UVA and especially the wonderful people at Centra Health Hospice for their loving care.
Family visitation will be Tuesday November 15th from 2:00 to 4:00 P.M. and 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence, 2557 Renan Rd. Gretna, VA 24557. Funeral Service will be held Wednesday November 16th at 2:00 PM at Sheva Church of Christ 4920 Chalk Level Rd. Chatham, VA 24531 by
Don Seevers, Minister, Ray Eure, Minister and Ron Voss, Minister. Interment will follow at Green Hill Cemetery in Altavista.
