Gretna…..Blanche Meadows Simpson, age 82 of Gretna, died Monday, August 8, 2016 surrounded by her family at the residence of her son and daughter-in-law, Roger and Judy Simpson, who were her special caregivers.
Born August 9, 1933 in Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of the late Percy Samuel Meadows and Lilly Shelton Meadows. She was predeceased by her husband, Reginald Aubrey Simpson; and three sisters, Frances Abigail, Beulah King and Esther Mae Lane. She was a member of Gretna Church of God of Prophecy, where she often sang solos. Mrs. Simpson loved Jesus and her family. She enjoyed reading her Bible as well as mystery and romance novels. She also enjoyed cooking, canning, and freezing.
She is survived by three sons, Kim Simpson and wife, Phyllis, Roger Simpson and wife, Judy, and Douglas Simpson and wife, Lynn; four daughters, Sheila Brown and husband, Jewell, Sharon Brewer and husband, Don, Charlotte Irby and husband, Randal, and Donna Kemp and husband, Richard; a special friend, Ramona Tuck; and 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
The family would like to give special thanks for the loving care given during her illness by Jetta, Pastor Deb, Dr. Carolyn, Rachel and Anna.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 11, 2016 at Colbert-Moran Chapel by Pastor Dean "Buster" Anderson. Burial will follow in the Simpson Family Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence.
