Gretna………Betty Carter McCoy, age 86 of Gretna, died Sunday, October 23, 2022 at Mulberry Creek Nursing and Rehab in Martinsville.

Born March 16, 1936 in Franklin County, she was a daughter of the late Garrett Hilton Carter and Edna Foster Carter.  She was predeceased by her husband, James Arthur McCoy; two sisters, Helen Reynolds and Ruby Blackwell; two brothers, Cecil Carter and Edward Carter; and one son, Edward Anthony.  Mrs. McCoy was a member of Greenfield Baptist Church and she was a home maker.

She is survived by three sisters, Barbara Kern of Waynesboro, Lucy Carter of Martinsville; and Katherine Arrington and husband, Richard of Bassett; one brother, Wilson Carter and wife, Doris of Forest; two grandchildren, Dawn Anthony of Gretna and Christopher Anthony of Stevensville; and three great-grandchildren, Nicholas Covarrubias, Nadia Covarrubias, and Anthony Martin.

Graveside services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 25, 2022 at Greenfield Baptist Church Cemetery by Rev. R.G. Rowland.

The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:30 to 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 25, 2022 at Greenfield Baptist Church Cemetery.
