Gretna…….Betty Brooks Irby, age 91 of Gretna passed away Thursday, December 4, 2025 at Gretna Health and Rehab Center.

Born March 31, 1934 in Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of the late Henry "Jack" Burk Allen and Pearl Burks Tucker.  She was predeceased by her husband, Harry Pete Irby; a sister, Nellie Burton; and a son-in-law, Mark Purdy.  Mrs. Irby was a member for many years at Sycamore Baptist Church and she retired from Canteen.  She loved flowers.

She is survived by three sons, Dale Irby and wife, Jerrea of Hurt, Ricky Irby and wife, Norina of California and Marke Irby and wife, Amy of Williamsburg; two daughters, Tammy Hubbard and husband Mark of Martinsville and Wanda Purdy of Gretna; eleven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 9, 2025 at Colbert-Moran Chapel by Rev. Ian Rigney.  Burial will follow in Greenfield Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday, December 8, 2025 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home.
