Altavista……Betty Jean Ferguson Mattox, age 60 of Altavista died Friday, September 3, 2021 at Centra Lynchburg General Hospital.

Born May 4, 1961 in Lynchburg, she was a daughter of Betty King Miller of Hurt and the late Walker Judson "Pete" Ferguson.  Betty was a member of Cody Church of God of Prophecy and she was a former employee of the Lane Company.  She loved her grandchildren, reading books, doing crossword puzzles, and her fur baby, "Mittens."

In addition to her mother, she is survived by two daughters, Robin Phipps and husband, Kendall of Charlotte Court House, and Samantha Mattox and fiancé, Travis Betterton of Gretna;  four brothers, Leroy King and wife, Eunice of Lynch Station, Ronald Ferguson and wife, Cindy of Gretna, Nelson Ferguson of Long Island, and Johnny Ferguson of Lynchburg; two sisters, Debra Hamlett and husband, Wyatt of Altavista, and Bonnie Lemin and husband, Scott of Altavista; and three grandchildren, Trent Wayne Betterton, Dawson Gage Phipps, and Miranda Jean Phipps.

Memorial services will be conducted 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 7, 2021 at Colbert-Moran Chapel by Rev. Lynn Marstin.
