Java……Betty Sue Bennett, age 54 of Java died Tuesday, December 13, 2022 at her residence.

Born December 4, 1968 in Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of Elsie Emerson Bennett of Gretna and the late Terry Jackson Bennett.  Betty was the former assistant plant manager at Capps Shoes; and she enjoyed gardening, fishing and spending time with her dog, Smutt.

She is survived by one daughter, Ashleigh Meeks of Raleigh, NC; four brothers, Michael Meeks and significant other, Sandra of Gretna, Oscar Meeks and wife, Donna of Gretna, Lyndon Meeks and wife, Rose of Gretna and Larry Meeks and significant other, Sherri of Gretna; one sister, Dianne Meeks of Gretna; her fiancé, Michael Betterton and his children; a special friend, Chelene Anderson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 16, 2022 at Colbert-Moran Chapel by Rev. R.G. Rowland.  Burial will follow in the Mease Family Cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 10 to 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 16, 2022 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence of her brother and sister-in-law, Lyndon and Rose Meeks, 11085 Rockford School Road, Gretna.
