Chatham……Betty Matthews Barbour, age 66 of Chatham died Sunday, April 25, 2021 at Centra Lynchburg General Hospital.

Born December 7, 1954 in Raleigh, North Carolina, she was a daughter of the late Allen Matthews and Mary David Matthews.  She was predeceased by one son, David Sutton; and three sisters, Jean Lively, Nancy Brink, and JoAnne Matthews.  Mrs. Barbour was of the Catholic faith.  She enjoyed life and loved everybody.  She also loved cats, reading, and making flower arrangements.

She is survived by her husband, Duane Calvin Barbour of the residence; one son, Patrick May of Raleigh, NC; two sisters, Linda Pridette of Zebulon, NC, and Mary Finnerty of Benson, NC; her mother-in-law, Anne Haskins Barbour of Gretna; a sister-in-law, Kimberly Barbour Berry and husband, Dixon of Hurt; and two grandchildren.

Per her request there will be no public service.
