Hurt……...Bertha East Vaughan, age 67 of Hurt died Thursday, November 10, 2016 at Runk and Pratt of Forest.
Born May 24, 1949 in Danville she was a daughter of the late John David East and Edith Maxey East. Bertha was retired from First Virginia Bank, now BB&T. She was an active member of New Prospect Baptist Church where she served as Sunday School teacher, Choir Director and member of the WMU. Bertha enjoyed shopping and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her husband, David L. Vaughan of the residence; one son, Kevin L. Wright and wife, Lori of Altavista; one daughter, Kristin W. McKillip and husband, Ryan of Williamsburg; two brothers, John D. East II and wife, Linda of Houston, TX and James East and wife, Jane of Greensboro, NC; four grandchildren, Jordan Wright, Anna Wright, Madilyn McKillip and Brinley McKillip.
Funeral services will be conducted 3:00 P.M. Saturday, November 12, 2016 at New Prospect Baptist Church by Rev. Brady Willis. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:30 to 2:45 P.M. Saturday, November 12, 2016 at New Prospect Baptist Church and other times will be at the residence.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to New Prospect Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 547 Hurt, VA 24563.
