Altavista……….Bernice Creasy Johnson, age 89 of Altavista died Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at Gretna Health and Rehab Center.
Born December 6, 1923 in Pittsylvania County she was a daughter of the late Lindsey Daniel Creasy and Mabel Crawley Creasy. Mrs. Johnson was predeceased by her husband, Charlie Edward Johnson, Sr.; and two sisters, Christine Dudley and Dorothy Taylor. She was a member of Midway Baptist Church and was a former employee of WKDE Radio. Mrs. Johnson was an artist and her paintings can be found in many homes. She enjoyed gardening, and was a member of DAR.
She is survived by two sons, Charlie Edward Johnson, Jr. and his wife, Amy of Bonlee, NC, and Lindsey Alan Johnson and his wife, Sandra of Ormond Beach, FL; one daughter, Linda Williams of Altavista; 13 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Saturday, April 6, 2013 at Midway Baptist Church by Rev. Lynn Marstin. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 P.M. Friday, April 5, 2013 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home.
