Hurt...........Bernell Johnson Mayhew, age 83 of 628 Highway View Road, Hurt died Monday, November 29, 2010 at her residence.
Born August 16, 1927 in Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of the late Robert Giles Johnson and Janie Saunders Johnson. She was predeceased by a daughter, Janet Carol Mayhew. Mrs. Mayhew was a member of Zion United Methodist Church, and was a home maker.
She is survived by her husband of more than sixty-five years, George D. Mayhew, Jr. of the residence; a daughter, Kim Waller and her husband, Gene of Altavista; three brothers, Aubrey G. Johnson of Chatham, Alvin M. Johnson of Loudon, TN, and Mack Johnson of Gretna; two sisters, Eleanor J. Amos of Jacksonville, FL, and Ann J. Roach of Gretna; and a grandson, Chad Hogan of Gretna.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 2, 2010 at Zion United Methodist Church by Rev. Harold Thornton. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, December 1, 2010 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home, and other times will be at the residence.
