Gretna……….Rebecca (Becky) Murphy Holley, age 79 of Gretna died Monday, August 18, 2014 at Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born February 13, 1935 in Pittsylvania County she was a daughter of the late Clifton Murphy and Thelma Cundiff Murphy. She was predeceased by her husband, George Anderson Holley, Sr. and one sister, Ida Sue Osborne. Mrs. Holley was a member of the First Baptist Church of Gretna and retired from Abbott Laboratories. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and thought the world of her dog Pug.
She is survived by one son, Andy Holley of Gretna; three brothers, Billy Murphy of Dry Fork, Pete Murphy of Dry Fork, and Cary Murphy of Norwood, NC; two sisters, Mary Jo Shortt of Altavista and Katie Yeatts of Gretna; two grandchildren, Jared Holley and his wife, Courtney of Rustburg, and Jason Holley and his wife, Amy of Gretna; and three great-grandchildren, Coleman Holley, Addi Holley, and Ellie Holley.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 20, 2014 at Colbert-Moran Chapel by Larry Owen, Minister. Burial will follow in Gretna Burial Park.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1 to 1:45 P.M. Wednesday, August 20, 2014 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence of her son, Andy Holley, 10541 Chalk Level Road, Gretna.
