Gretna…..Beatrice Simpson Clay, age 80 of Gretna died Monday, December 19, 2011 at Virginia Baptist Hospital.
Born June 15, 1931 in Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of the late John Lucas Simpson and Lucille Walker Simpson. Mrs. Clay was predeceased by her husband, Silas Carter Clay; two brothers, Raymond Simpson and Coleman Simpson; and three sisters, Jeter Cox, Viola Green and Lucille Colbert. She was a member of West End Church of Christ and was a home maker. She enjoyed music and being with her family and friends.
She is survived by four sons, Ralph Clay of Gretna, Larry Clay and wife, Judy of Gretna, Wesley Clay of Gretna and Donald Clay and wife, Gina of Gretna; one brother, Lloyd Simpson of Gretna; one sister, Dot Rowland of Gretna; three grandchildren, Michael Clay and wife, Christy, Zachary Clay and Makayla Clay; one great-grandchild, Zoe Cain; and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 22, 2011 at the Colbert-Moran Chapel by Randy Parker, Minister. Burial will follow in Gretna Burial Park.
The family will receive friends at the residence of her son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Judy Clay, 240 Blue Ridge Drive, Gretna.
