Penhook………Barry Wayne Speck, age 76 of Penhook died Thursday, May 30, 2024 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

Born March 19, 1948 in Bedford County, he was a son of the late Alexander "Bud" Speck and Katherine Hamblett Speck.  He was a former mechanic with Gil Farmer Chevrolet, Lloyd Hodges Garage and Davis Garage.  Barry loved his grandchildren and was an amazing father and grandfather.  His passion was cars and he loved working on them.

He is survived by one daughter, Sheila Cumbee and husband, Dwayne of Floyd; four grandchildren, Liberty Cumbee, Eli Cumbee, Levi Cumbee and Austin Cumbee; one brother, Keith Speck and wife, Freda; six sisters, Trudy Hedrick, Sylvia David, Carolyn Walker and friend, Tommy, Wanda Cook and husband, Troy, Brenda Perdue and husband, Dickie, and Sharon Moore and husband, Davis; and a special nephew, Little Keith Speck and his wife, Samantha.
