Gretna…….Barbara "Becky" Rebecca Bomar Layne, age 82 of Gretna died Friday, February 5, 2016 at her residence.
Born October 30, 1933 in Halifax County she was a daughter of the late Edward Meeks Bomar and Clara Francis Bomar. She was predeceased by a son, Chris Layne; a daughter, Lisa Layne; seven brothers, three sisters, one grandchild; and one great-grandchild. Mrs. Layne was a member of Straightstone Baptist Church and retired from Klopman Mills. She enjoyed sewing, working with flowers, cooking, camping and fishing at the lake.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Deroy Layne of the residence; two daughters, Carol Grant and husband, John of Gretna and Nancy Lance and husband, Thomas of Altavista; one sister, Louise Henderson of Nathalie; four grandchildren, Nick Layne and his wife, Laura, Matthew Lance, Adam Grant and John "Buck" Grant and his wife, Katie; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 8, 2016 at Straightstone Baptist Church by Pastor David Bell and Pastor Jason Mauk. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Sunday, February 7, 2016 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence.
