Altavista…….Barbara "Mema" Giles Moore, age 72 of Altavista died Wednesday, February 18, 2015 at her residence.
Born May 3, 1942 in Lynchburg she was a daughter of the late Harold Russell Giles, Sr. and Geneva Farmer Giles. She was a member of Motley United Methodist Church, she graduated from E.C. Glass High School in 1960 and she was a former EMT for the Blue Ridge Jail System. Barbara volunteered and was a Lieutenant for the Altavista EMS. She loved to dance, sing, and spend time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by three sons, James Albert Moore, Jr. and his wife, Shannon of Lynchburg, Tommy Moore and his wife, Stephanie of Altavista and Bobby Moore and his wife, Jacquie of Midlothian; one daughter, Martha Elaine Moore of Altavista; a foster daughter, Sophia Betts of South Boston; one brother, Rusty Giles and his wife, Pamela of Hurt; 11 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 20, 2015 at Colbert-Moran Chapel by Rev. Bobby Brumfield. Burial will follow at Motley United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, February 19, 2015 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home.
