Gretna……….Aubrey Otis (Buddy) Ayers, age 81 of 1085 Weatherford Drive, Gretna died Sunday, April 27, 2014 at his residence.
Born January 13, 1933 in Bedford County he was a son of the late Dock (Buck) Ayers and Nora Craighead Ayers. He was predeceased by two daughters, Bonnie Kaye Ayers and Barbara Ann Ayers; a son, David Wayne Ayers; two brothers, Bill Ayers, Otha Ayers; and one sister, Janet Ferguson. Mr. Ayers was a logger and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and traveling.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Cassidy Ayers of the residence; two sons, Aubrey Ayers and his wife, Linda of Gretna, and Douglas Ayers of Gretna; two daughters, Carolyn Sue Bandy and her husband, Mark of Pittsville, and Linda Gail Alderson and her husband, Randy of Gretna; two brothers, Boyd Ray Ayers of Bedford and Raymond Ayers of Roanoke; three sisters, Ruth Tuck and her husband, Jackie of Moneta, Betty Wright of Roanoke, and Rachel Ayers of Roanoke; six grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at Colbert-Moran Chapel by Rev. Brian Faison. Burial will follow in the Radford Baptist Church Cemetery in Moneta.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 P.M. Monday, April 28, 2014 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence.
