Chatham……….Arlene Wilford Brooks, age 88 of Chatham died Saturday, October 24, 2020 at Rocky Mount Health and Rehab Center.

Born April 23, 1932 in Campbell County, she was a daughter of the late Boyd Wilford and Sally Cox Wilford.  She was predeceased by her husband, Ramsey White Brooks, Sr.; one son, Robert Malpass; three brothers, David Wilford, John Wilford, and Sam Wilford; and one sister, Virginia Crutchfield.  Mrs. Brooks was a member of Hollywood Baptist Church and she spent many years working in Chatham at Marie's Diner and Hotel Coffee Shop.  She enjoyed gardening at her home at little Cherrystone and playing Bingo.

She is survived by three sons, Charles Malpass and wife, Sara of Chatham, Thomas Dawson and wife, Helen of Gibsonville, NC, and Jimmy Cofflin and wife, Angie of Jasper, GA; three daughters, Sandra Clingenpeel and husband, Harry of Hardy, Marie Beyer of Rocky Mount, and Kathleen Warren and husband, Larry of Westminster, CA; 17 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 7, 2020 at Hillcrest Burial Park.
