Annie Simpson George

Gretna……….Annie Simpson George, age 102 of Gretna died Monday, February 24, 2014 at Gretna Health and Rehab Center.
Born November 22, 1911 in Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of the late, Morgan Simpson and Minerva Goad Simpson. She was predeceased by her husband, Curtis Elmore George; one son, Calvin George, Sr.; one brother, Joel Simpson; four sisters, Edna Yeatts, Agatha Simpson, Velma Moore and Carrie Myers; and a son-in-law, Archie Osborne. Mrs. George was a member of Greenbay Christian Church and was a home maker. She enjoyed sewing, gardening and baking.
She is survived by a son, J.W. George and wife Betty of Java; one daughter, Clara Jane Osborne of Gretna; two sisters, Meta Shelton of GA and Vonnie Custer of Gretna; four grandchildren, Lynn Osborne, Charlotte Craig, Calvin George, Jr. and Debbie Jean Thompson; 8 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, February 26, 2014 at Greenbay Christian Church by Lee Ashley, Minister and Chris Osborne. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, February 25, 2014 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence of her son and daughter-in-law, J.W. and Betty George, 2112 Corner Road, Java.
