Gretna………Silas Andrew "Andy" Payne, Jr., age 77 of Gretna died Wednesday, November 17, 2021 at Centra Lynchburg General Hospital.

Born January 12, 1944 in Pittsylvania County, he was a son of the late Silas Andrew Payne, Sr. and Erma Burnett Payne.  Mr. Payne was of the Primitive Baptist faith and he was a guard with Camp 15 for 28 years.  He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and gardening.

He is survived by his wife, Christine Gibson Payne of the residence; two sons, Todd Payne of Chatham, and Bryan Payne of South Carolina; one step-son, Kyle Shelton and wife, Deana of Chatham; one step-daughter, Marlene Sowers and husband, Roy of Danville; sister-in-law, Bonnie Payne of Chatham; three grandchildren, Drew Payne and wife, Norah of Chatham, Blair Payne and fiancée, Chandler Edwards of Chatham, and Colby Payne of Chatham; four step-grandchildren, Lauren White and husband, Gary of Chatham, Michael Shelton of Chatham, Amanda Shelton of Chatham, and Nathan Shelton of Chatham; four step-great-grandchildren, Hailey Harris, Megan White, Breanna White, and Kristin White; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 20, 2021 at Weatherford Primitive Baptist Church by Elder Raymond Goad and Elder Marvin Brumfield.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, November 19, 2021 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence.
