Rocky Mount…….Amy Towler Stephens, age 93 of Rocky Mount, died Tuesday, March 1, 2011 at Franklin Health Care Center in Rocky Mount.
Born February 2, 1918 in Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of the late James Henry Towler and Ora Custer Towler. She was predeceased by five brothers, Percy Towler, Doug Towler, Aubrey Towler, Howard Towler, and Clarence Towler; and two sisters, Lora Yeatts, and Reba Towler. Ms. Stephens was a member of Greenbay Christian Church, and was a home maker. She loved all of nature, walking in the outdoors, all kinds of animals, and flowers.
She is survived by a brother, Marion Towler and his wife, Katherine of Danville; 15 nieces and nephews; and many great nieces and great nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Thursday, March 3, 2011 at Greenbay Christian Church by Lee Ashley, Minister. Burial will follow in the Towler Family Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1 to 2:00 P.M. Thursday, March 3, 2011 at Greenbay Christian Church and other times will be at the residence of her niece and nephew, Jackie and Reuben Pickral, 497 Greenbay Road, Chatham.
