Gretna……Alvin Dean Talbott, age 86 of Gretna died Saturday, May 13, 2023 at his residence.

Born August 14, 1936 in Pittsylvania County, he was a son of the late Pearl Elson Talbott and Myrtle Hendrix Talbott. He was predeceased by his wife of 58 years, Thelma Franklin Talbott; a brother, David Talbott; and a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Tommy and Selma Campbell. Mr. Talbott was a U.S. Navy Veteran, a truck driver and a member of the First Baptist Church of Gretna. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a member of Scale Rock Hunting Club. He was a wonderful and devoted husband, father, grandfather and loyal friend.

He is survived by his daughter, Kathy Rhoads and husband, Billy of Gretna; two grandchildren, Stephanie R. Fruchter and husband, Shawn of Franklin, TN and Matthew S. Rhoads and wife, Claire of Mt. Pleasant, SC; five great-grandchildren, Colin Fruchter, Graycn Fruchter, Liam Rhoads, Fiona Rhoads and Vivian Rhoads; two sisters-in-law, Susie Talbott of Gretna and Sue Kiehm and husband, Leonard of Penhook; a nephew, Timmy Campbell and wife, Beth of Winston Salem, NC; a great-nephew, Isaac Campbell; and a cousin, Cleo Morris and husband, Bill of Virginia Beach.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 17, 2023 at Colbert-Moran Chapel by Rev. Bob Ballance. Burial will follow in Gretna Burial Park.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 10 to 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 17, 2023 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence.
