Ahoskie, NC…..Alice Rigney Turnbull, age 94 of Ahoskie, NC formerly of Penhook died Saturday, January 9, 2016 in Creekside Care and Rehabilitation Center in Ahoskie, NC.
Born January 16, 1921 in Franklin County she was a daughter of the late Henry Birchie Rigney and Fannie Hedrick Rigney. Mrs. Turnbull was predeceased by her husband, Billy Junior Turnbull; a son, William Henry (Bill) Turnbull; a daughter-in-law, Patricia Louise (Smart) Turnbull; two brothers, Raleigh Rigney and Clyde Rigney; six sisters, Louise Jacobs, Nannie Rigney, Estelle Mattox, Mary Rowland, Helen Dodson and Edith Cocke. She was a member of Liberty Christian Church since 1934 and a home maker. Mrs. Turnbull was a former member of the church Missionary Society and the Friendly Neighbors Club of Penhook. She enjoyed cooking, traveling, and spending time with her family. She was known for her green thumb and for her ability to grow just about anything, especially her roses and other flowers.
She is survived by one sister, Virginia Mattox of Gretna; two grandchildren, Elicia Revelle and husband, Jay of Murfreesboro, NC and Matt Turnbull and wife Sallie of Clemson, SC; four great-grandchildren, John Revelle, Claire Revelle, Will Revelle, and Henry Turnbull; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday, January 16, 2016 at Liberty Christian Church by Wayne Grinnell, Minister. Burial will follow in Liberty Memorial Cemetery.
The family will receive friends prior to the service, Saturday morning, January 16, 2016, from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at Liberty Christian Church.
