Gretna……Alice Rebecca Townsend Faris, age 92 of Gretna went to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 7, 2019, she will be greatly missed by everyone.

Born May 7, 1927 in Drakes Branch in Charlotte County, she was a daughter of the late Hester Silas Townsend and Rosa Lena Lacks Townsend.  She was predeceased by her husband, Walter Dewey Faris; one son, Alvin James Faris; and one brother, Willie Townsend.  Her golden rule and the way she lived her life can be found in Luke 10:27, "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind, and, Love your neighbor as yourself."  She was a home maker; and she enjoyed reading the Bible, doing crossword puzzles, going to PACE, and family genealogy.

She is survived by one son, Wayne D. Faris of Evington; one daughter, Shirley Martin and husband, Billy of Lynch Station; one brother, Hester Townsend of Drakes Branch; two sisters, Hilda Edwards of Midlothian, and Ruby Townsend of Frederick, MD; ten grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 10, 2019 at the Faris Family Cemetery by Ray Eure, Minister.
