Gretna……...Alease Barksdale Waller, age 86 of Gretna passed away Monday, May 4, 2026 at her residence.

Born January 7, 1940 in Halifax County, she was a daughter of the late Herbert Narvel Barksdale and Susie Walker Barksdale Evington.  She was predeceased by her husband, James Lawson Waller; one son, James Lawson Waller, Jr.; two brothers, William Barksdale and Charles Barksdale; and two sisters, Katherine Dixon and Alice Spence.   Mrs. Waller was a member of Gospel Light Baptist Church and retired from Klopman Mills.

She is survived by three grandchildren, Nicholas Waller of Hurt, Melanie Waller of Texas and Jessica Waller of Altavista; five great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and good friends, Sam and Darlene Owens of Gretna.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 7, 2026 at Colbert-Moran Chapel by Pastor Brian Warren.  Burial will follow in Straightstone Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 7, 2026 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence of Sam and Darlene Owens, 340 Scruggsway Terrace, Gretna.
