Lynchburg……….Adell Rowland Shelton, age 91 of Lynchburg formerly of Gretna, died Sunday, January 30, 2011 at the Summit in Lynchburg.
Born October 15, 1919 in Pittsylvania County , she was a daughter of the late, James (Jim) Monroe Rowland and Lula Bailess Rowland. She was predeceased by her husband, Lawson William Shelton; four sisters, Blanche Woodson, Annie Saunders, Homie Jones and Jeannette Crawley; four brothers, Odie Rowland, Elwood Rowland, Harley Rowland and Herman Rowland. Mrs. Shelton was a member of Gretna Christian Church and a homemaker. She enjoyed her flowers, and watching the birds at the bird feeder.
She is survived by her daughter, Linda S. Gabaldon and husband, Ron of Lynchburg; one brother, Raymond Rowland of Gretna; and the loves of her life, her grandson and great-grandchildren; one grandson, Chris Gabaldon and wife, Kim; and two great-grandchildren, Grace Gabaldon and Grant Gabaldon.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 1, 2011 at Colbert-Moran Chapel by Rev. R.G. Rowland and Rev. Dwight Mays. Burial will follow in Gretna Burial Park.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1 to 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home.
