Nathalie……Addie Mae Jones Clay, age 95 of Nathalie died Thursday, April 7, 2016 at Lynchburg General Hospital.
Born July 27, 1920 in Halifax County she was a daughter of the late, Henry Thomas Jones and Chaney Shelton Jones. Mrs. Clay was predeceased by her husband, Dennis Thomas Clay; three brothers, Clarence Jones, Willie Jones, and Lacy Jones; three sisters, Lucy Waller, Delora Clay and Maggie Mayhew. She was a home maker, a lifetime tobacco farmer and a member of Mulberry Baptist Church where she sang in the choir and served as a Sunday School teacher. Mrs. Clay enjoyed sewing, playing the guitar and her flower garden.
She is survived by two sons, Jerry Clay and wife, Martha of Danville and Danny Clay and wife, Rebecca of Altavista; one daughter, Joyce Moorefield of Gretna; one sister, Eva Betterton of Gretna; five grandchildren, Tammy Moorefield, Jennifer Snead and husband, Keith, Tony Moorefield, Joseph Clay and wife, Kristen and Shari Fowley and husband, Dan; seven great-grandchildren, Cody Clay, Patrick Clay, Will Snead, Jaden Lameer-Moorefield, Daniel Fowley, Meridyth Fowley and Keelin Fowley.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Sunday, April 10, 2016 at Mulberry Baptist Church by Rev. David Hanks and Rev. Latta Terry. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday, April 9, 2016 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence.
