Hurt…….Clara Dodson Clay, age 88 of Hurt died Wednesday, February 13, 2013. Born September 29, 1924 in Halifax Co, she was the daughter of the late Harry Dodson and Nolie Hall Dodson. She was predeceased by her husband, Russell Monroe Clay, Sr.; two sisters, Alise Clay and Geraldine Daniels; two grandchildren, Glenn Garner “Pete” Clay, Jr., and Robert Anderson Clay; and a daughter-in-law, Mary Lou Clay. Mrs. Clay was a member of Edge Hill Baptist Church and was a home maker. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, cooking, working in the garden, and reading her bible. She is survived by three sons, Russell M. Clay, Jr. of Hurt, L. Wayne Clay of Hurt, and Glenn Garner Clay and his wife, Earleen of Long Island; one brother, Edward Dodson of Nathalie; two sisters, Jewel Saunders and husband, John of Nathalie and Florris Reid of Forest; two grandchildren, Michelle Clay and Russell Clay III and his special friend, Ann Richardson. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 15, 2013 at Edge Hill Baptist Church by Rev. Billy Robertson. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the residence of her son and daughter-in-law, Glenn and Earleen Clay, at 3417 Harmony Rd, Long Island. Colbert-Moran Funeral Home, Gretna is assisting the family.
